quiz time (and no looking it up, its cheating)

First one with the correct answer gets a Hail Mary, Our Father and Glory Be said for their intentions and those of their friends, family and benefactors (all who reply will be especially included in the intentions of my rosary tonight)

When does Lent end?

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 03:45 pm (UTC)

I'm gonna say Good Friday.

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:09 pm (UTC)

partial credit, we'll see what others say before I decide to give it to you or not.

but man, you jumped on that quick, can't pass up grace can ya? heh

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 05:24 pm (UTC)

the correct answer is sundown Maundy Thursday, so cannonically you are correct because it then would be Good Friday.

enjoy the prayers

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:05 pm (UTC)

40 days minus sundays after mardi gras (including ash wednesday)

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:11 pm (UTC)

thats clearly cheating, but I'm glad you pointed out for everyone that yes, indeed Sundays are NOT part of Lent (theoretically they are part of Easter year round)

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:16 pm (UTC)

nuh uh! just cause some people can't do math doesn't mean i'm cheating!

and it's April 15 (holy saturday)at sundown

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:22 pm (UTC)

still not quite, though the fast and mortification still holds till then

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:31 pm (UTC)

ok, mortification through saturday, but lent "Officially" ends with maundy thursday

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:39 pm (UTC)

I said no cheating.

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 04:53 pm (UTC)

what? no cheating? i didn't cheat! how did i cheat?

you just don't want to pray for me, do you?

That's it! I'm going to pray for you right now! so there!

Mon, Mar. 20th, 2006 05:23 pm (UTC)

fine fine... the answer is

sundown Maundy Thursday

so you and Isaac were both correct, as technically sundown would cannonically be the next day and therefore Good Friday.

you both get the prayer lovin though.

(anyone who comments on this thread still gets in on the rosary graces tonight, even if its after the answer has been given

I believe that Lent ends at Holy Thursday Mass. The Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Resurrection Sunday) is a separate season altogether.

Am I right, am i right?

Tue, Mar. 21st, 2006 01:27 pm (UTC)

that was a pretty good answer.

Lent offically ends sundown on Maundy Thursday, ya.

you still get grace lovin for the answer though.

Tue, Mar. 21st, 2006 01:40 am (UTC)

um...i'm gonna guess when you type the space after the "t".....

Tue, Mar. 21st, 2006 05:38 am (UTC)

HEHEHEHE, good one, Maggie =) That deserves prayers too, I think, Joey!

Tue, Mar. 21st, 2006 01:32 pm (UTC)

without a doubt

Tue, Mar. 21st, 2006 01:29 pm (UTC)

hah... well done.

I'm always willing to award cleverness points

Lent ends after Holy Thursday services are over. Good Friday is not conisidered a part of Lent. [at least that is what i was taught my whole life...]

Mon, Mar. 27th, 2006 01:32 pm (UTC)

yup yup, quite right
